Has anyone used a cylinder head vacuum test bench.
I am going to build one for my head rebuild work I am going to do.
Here is a for sale test bench And how it works

Bye for Now!
I have all the parts required but my pump creates a much better vacuum than 30 in hg (-1bar). I have a -1 bar vacuum gauge but goes all the way past the -bar to the stop point.
So i will have to look for a gauge that can cope with the higher vacuum level probably 1.5e-6 bar (1.5e-3 mbar).
It is Very simple setup really.
But I would like to know if anyone has any experience of using them.

if your gauge is reading past 30 inches of vacuum, its broken, that is the absolute max, you can only take so much air out of a space.
Yes very true.
I got my decimal places wrong.
The calibration on the gauge I used must have been off.
I have a couple of of others on order.
1.5e-3 mbar is quite close to zero. So definitely good enough for a vacuum test bench.
It is basically a backing pump for a tuurbomolecular pump that creates the higher vacuum levels.
I don't need 1e-9 mbar like our TOF mass spec instrument we build at work.
We create our own little bit of space in all out instrument.
Lol.
