1997 VR-4, EGR valve question

Hi everyone! Folks, I was wondering, if you could please tell me something about the non-OE EGR valves? Because mine failed, and I do not feel I am ready to pay $600 for the new one from the dealership.
Now, I found a new aftermarket EGR, but wanted to ask you folks, if it is a good idea to grab one?

It looks like you have a 1998 or later, not a 1997. Certainly the front end panels are newer than 1997.
Can you explain which part you are talking about? Our cars don't recirculate the exhaust.

Do the non turbo 2.5 V6 have EGR valves?

They seem to have a lot more emission control stuff.

Also, you have an 8G VR-4 in the USA - how did you manage it?
