Lancer 2009 2.0 diesel

Hi everyone
I know this is a galant and legnum forum (been part of it for a while now) but though you guys might know something about lancers too. I still have my galant 2002 v6 2.5 and love it but it slowly needs more and more work to be done on it and I just dont have the time or money to keep it going. I want to swap to lancer 2009 2.0 diesel but I have no idea how good these cars or engines are? I'm guessing its a vw engine with dpf. I have read somewhere that these 2 litre diesels weren't the most successful vw engines (indestructible 1.9tdi) and some repairs might be really expensive but then this engine was apparently fixed after 2007. Any opinions would be great help.

the car itself is brillant ,however the eingines can be somewhat of a diffrent story, i had one for 3 years till the ex wrote it off .it was fine and really relible untill it went into limp mode one day and would ramdomly go into limp evey now and then its something to do with carbon build up and the egr ,never got it looked at as she wrote it off but a lot of people have simlar issues with then

EGR valve issues happen on all diesel cars due to the sooty exhaust emissions.

Especially if the car is used for short journeys.

Went and bought the 2008 lancer gs4 1.8 petrol salon as I only do short trips. I really like it so far and the 1.8 does not feel like 1.8 more like 2.0 or maybe more. My galant is obv more powerfull and smooth but the lancer is really really nice so far. I think I will avoid diesels for now. Thanks for the input guys
