My car doesn’t have roof rails fitted, I can get hold of a set quite easily for free, are there going to be existing holes or am I going to need to drill?

I added some once to a prefacelift with moonroof. On that car the holes were on the structural parts above the headlining but obviously not through the roof. But at least I could see where to drill!
I’ll have to pop out the headlining and take a look, the car looks cleaner without them but I need to use the occasional top box for the long trips away
I've successfully used the roof rack that fits without using roof rails. It's a Mont Blanc design as used by Halfords. You buy the bars and feet packs separately.

That's a well-loaded Leggie! I don't quite see the 'kitchen sink' in that picture but it looks like it will be in there somewhere ......
Like the fly-fryer.
That set up looks perfect. I'll see if Halfrauds still sell it, thank you.
Luckily I have a store 5 minutes away so I'll pop in and see what they can do.
I need to see if we can get those here in NZ; there's often times a roof-rack would be very useful.
I have 2 sets of roof bars/rack both are universal fit one is paddy hopkirk and one is thrule. the only issue with the universal one is the location of the rails they are quite far forward on the roof as they hook under the door openings and you can only push the rear ones back as far as the rear door will go.
but if you are fitting a roof box then you can move it back to balcnce it out a bit more by choosing the correct box mounting points.
