    2002 LEGNUM VR-4 performance upgrades

    Hi everyone,

I am thinking of upgrading my 2002 LEGNUM VR-4 AUTOMATIC, but do not know which are the most effective performance upgrades to do?...and where are the best places to buy them?..any suggestions?

Brakes...which brake kits would you recommend?....do not need AP RACING or BREMBO as they are too expensive...just reasonably priced brake kit which have good stopping power and easy to install.

Suspension...which brand would you guys recommend which is good for daily use and fast road?...do not want something too hard, because it is uncomfortable.

    Tiptronic transmission(auto)...
Is there any ways to make the standard automatic transmission box stronger in order to take more power?...

    Engine modifications..
What are the most effective engine modifications to do in order to get more power??...and which engine parts are the most fragile in these engines and which parts would you recommend to replace in order to have a stronger and more reliable engine?

    Thank you for your time!

Any suggestions would be appreciated 👍

Evo 4-5-6-7-8 and 9 brake calipers are direct fit to Legnums and Galant, you’ll need the Evo brake discs too. Available second hand on eBay.

With the engine you can do can do all the normal things like improve the exhaust and intake flow, re-map etc. There are no bolt on bigger turbos. Some have made their own custom exhaust manifolds to fit other turbos like the TD04 from Subaru. Others have made a hybrid turbo (modifying the current turbos - not a lot of success here). Or some have changed the twin turbo to a large single turbo which is a good route for big power, and a cheaper option. All are pricey though, and all are custom jobs, there are no bolt on kits. But there is plenty of content on club vr4 to help decide which path you’d want to take!

Heads start to lift after 350bhp plus if I remember right, ARP head studs from 3sgte engine will fit(used mainly in Toyota mr2 and Celica) and are a needed upgrade when you look to increase the turbo size

I’m sure someone will come by shortly with some links to other discussions of engine power.. it’s been talked about many a time.
    Good luck!

It's slightly out of date but the majority still stands.
