    SGT Maidenhead - Great big enormous service...

    Hi all,

    well after the jaunt round Ireland the poor car was feeling a little loose, and well overdue for a service (who knew you could use so many miles pottering down back rounds)

    Did an oil change myself before I left 'cos I knew I'd go over, at about 85.5K, by the time I got back the mileage was up to nearly 88K.

    So with the missed intermediate service, and a dose of the flu, I thought I'd put the car into the garage for a service, and bring the 90K forward with some other jobs.

    Of course the bill was well into mega-pounds territory but for this I got;

    New lower arms (left and right) - still arguing with mitsi about this as a recall
    New track rod ends (left and right)
    New discs and pads (front and rear)

    Cambelt service (90K) and all that entails

    And a great big smile..... the car feels so much more solid now, whoever did the geometry after the suspension/steering parts sure knows there stuff, it feels like it's on rails and a slight vagueness at 'speed' is gone.

    Just drove back to Germany today, and had a good long clear stretch of the A3/A2 got up to 145mph (indicated) and still felt rock solid. (That's the autobahn in Germany ossifer )

    So all in all, well pleased with the lads work

    this journey oi 'ave been mostly listening to;

    New Order - Waiting for the Siren's Call (go and buy this now...)
    Daft Punk - Human (not as good as Aerodynamic, but I think it will grow on me)
    Sohne Mannheims - Noiz (part of my German improvement scheme)
    Tony Christy - Definitive (I know, I know )
    Alfie - Soundtrack (excellent 'Old habits die hard' favourite track at the mo.)
    Kaiser Chiefs - Employment (got bored with this... we'll see)

    Then there was a little comic relief, from the Python's.

    That about sums it up, I'll post a breakdown. But that was after a fairly hefty discount.

    Their normal (displayed) labour charge is £65 p/h, got it down to £55 p/h.

    Reckon it was about half/half labour and parts.

    From the top of the head lower arms were £135 each (so thats £300 or 0.3 megapounds after VAT)

    Although it wasn't cheap, I still feel it was worth it, the difference to the car is amazing.
