    Gearbox oil ? Automatic

    Hi,

I know the requirement is Mitsubishi SPIII but would this be suitable for the automatic gearbox ? I have read amsoil but this is about 1/3 of the price but says it meets the spec ?

    Thanks

I would recommend the AMsoil, it’s more money but in the long run you will probably only do the job once if you intend on keeping the car I sure you will get similar replies at some point.
    Happy new year

    Happy New Year !

Thanks, Do you know what the Amsoil has in it that makes it better ? Just curious to see :-) Is there any supplier youd recommend to but it from and what's the proper name/spec of it ?

    Cheers

Is the gearbox working ok ? If the fluid is still red and gearbox ok then maybe leave it you will need around 12 litres to replace the fluid so it is not a cheap job. But if you are going to keep the car then for piece of mind replace it.
There’s a good description of how to replace it on here if you do it yourself or if it’s done by a garage make sure they know what to do just dropping the the fluid from the sump is only 5 litres or so.

Yeah all is good with the box and changing etc, seems to have a bumpy ride through the back end from 45mph up over ?

Checked the transmission oil level cold and it's to the max of the HOT level so that will need some bleeding off?

    Thanks

I think you should check level of fluid when it’s hot, also you should cycle through the gears then check.
Do a search for gearbox and see the correct procedure.
