    Back in a vr4

So after 11 years I will finally be back in a vr4.
I put a deposit on a silver legnum during the week. Hopefully collect it soon. Totally original with only 83k miles. Needs a bit of tidying but rust free. Only 2 owners before me. I believe the first owner was the David Blackburn who owned Mitsubishi motors U.K. if I?m correct and was registered under his business here in Ireland for over 15 years. I?ll get pics up when I collect it.

Absolutely love the car, drive home beautifully. Unfortunately the radiator burst just as I pulled into the driveway last night. Must get the bumpers painted and a few little jobs done.

Shipping list is pretty small. I ordered a new radiator last night so that?s next weekends project.

Must put in a more modern radio but Iv a brand new Sony double din ready to go in.

I swapped the reg plates for jap size plates yesterday and looks so much better.

I?ll service the car and replace the pads and disks over the next few weeks.

The plan is to keep her stock so no modifications. She is a clean car underneath so for the winter I?ll put in into the garage to clean and paint the underside to keep it rust free.

So radiator is fixed, easy job.

Now it’s running lumpy. My mechanic plugged in his snap on diagnostic and it’s coming back as misfire cylinder 6. Iv ordered a set of ngk plugs PFR6G-11 5555. I think I’ll change the plug leads while I’m at it. The engine is completely standard so will I go magnecor leads 8mm or 8.5mm? Anything else I should look at regarding that misfire?

Other than that I am in love with the car. Been a long time since Iv had a car I’m obsessed with.

You don't want the plug gaps to be 1.1 in the VR4. Those sound like N/A V6 plugs.
You should consider the flashy dash method of code reading - it's generally much more reliable than code readers - the VR4 is not ODB2 compliant and often code readers tell porkies as they interpret the codes incorrectly.
    Glad things are progressing though!

Thanks lads. I re order the correct plugs. I rechecked the ones I ordered and they are for the na v6. Thanks for catching that.

I did the flashy dash just there. 1 long flash followed by 10 short flashes. If I am reading that correct it’s coming up as 1 A No.1 cylinder misfire detection. So plugs and leads should be my best attempt.

Nice to see pics, even sideways ones!!

Always worth changing plugs anyway, especially if the service history is a little unknown. Misfires on these tend to be failing coilpacks as the originals are all getting ancient and are all subject to a lot of heat; but see how the plug/lead change does for now.

I'd agree with Nev - missfires are often coil packs now, but start with the easy/cheap basics! Good luck.
