    Japfest - The Event

Maybe this should have been called "wetfest"! Did it ever rain. The first session was really like a skating event - but the afternoon session was more or less dry and some very spirited running was achieved. Many photo's taken - some quite funny in the rain holding down a a very useful tent!
Was good to see some old faces and many new ones too. Some have covered great distances, Scottishian for one with Jacque. Nice one mate. Should also welcome CVR4's youngest member,Fay - little smasher Well done B&B. Yet again despite the weather a great day was had by all and the BBQ superb. Think we brought enough for all at the event rather than just CVR4
Many thanks for your company to all, another fantastic Club day and even a little car swapping at the end

What a day! loved it THB, rain or no rain!
I made a "surprise" visit, however I was one super stressed monkey arriving at IBIS, my head was up my arse.. But, couple beers later I was back to normal. We did really well getting down there, little Fay kept quiet the entire trip down, had we not got lost due to the poxy AA route planner we would have arrived at IBIS intime to feed Fay in the Hotel. However she was determined to be fed, we had to stop to feed her grumpiness..

So, a rather early wakeup off we went to Castle Combe.

I have to say, the Gazebo was a life saver!! im sure we will see some pictures of us all huddled underneath it - nice and cozy.

Unfortunately, due to 3 troublesome issues, I decided not to go out on track. Which, im sad about, but also glad.. just incase something happened, and I was without car during my job transition period…. Heres to Silverstone.!

Ill get round to uploading the pictures I took tomorrow.

    Couple shout-outs
Andy - thanks for sorting my Spec Sheet! much appreciated.
Nick - A Huge thank you for organising yet another fantastic CVR4 event, also, thanks for keeping things to yourself.. /tiphat

From Steve and myself, thanks to everyone for organising a great event. I have learnt a lot about what I can or cannot get away with the car.

Hope to see you all soon,

Yep, what an excellent weekend - well done Nick for organising another success

Great turnout and really good to meet some new faces, especially the 'chat room gang', who we felt we knew already and to see all the usual suspects again too

Well done to Shaz, Alex and the rest for sorting out the BBQ - anyone want more bacon

Finally, a big thanks to Simon for organising last nights meal - a table for 13 on a Saturday night with about 15 minutes notice

Well what a mixture of an event.....to say it everything is an understatement.

First shock was getting to the Ibis.....walking into the bar and seeing none other than Barry - was a fabulous surprise - and of course Betty and Fay (what a cutie).

Star of the show has to be Jane and Marcus - without the gazebo we would have had a terrible time.......you are stars

Huge thanks to Nick for organising another brill event

Well done to the ladies who sorted the BBQ !

Our first track session was eventful. I won't mention all of it, but from my personal perspective it was interesting. First off I failed the sound test - 3 times ! It was only with persistance and a helpful wife nagging the sh1t out of them they let me on ! So, it's peeing down big style, my camcorder had jammed, and 6 minutes of the session had gone.......to say I was wound up was an understatement ! I also had my mate as a passenger and this was his first time on track So, thought it was about time to see what these things do in a spin - and completed a full 360 in the chicane after quarry......I don't think my mate was impressed.....hahahahaha. It was about the safest place at Combe to do a spin and I loved it.

It was great to see old friends and new........what a great bunch of people you all are.......thank you all for a great weekend.

I have got quite a lot of video action from my (fixed later) camcorder, my mates and Barry's......so will start cutting and posting in the next day or two. I may even make a mini film..........

Will get the pics we have loaded in a bit

I got back late this morning after a diversion via my folks in Gloucester. Shame I missed last night, but Friday night was a cracker.

Fantastic to see Barry stood in reception as we walked in, what a cracking surprise - really pleased to see you, Betty and the nipper

Saturday was a really, really BIG day for me - first track action since what will forever be known as "the Ring Sting incident" - the first session was very scary and a rather nervous afair and I was very conscious of it being even worse conditions to that fateful day, but by the end of the 2nd session there was a massive grin on my face yet again - oh how I love track days, the buzz is very much back

Big thanks to Simon for another go in the '32. What a beast that car is! And what a driver Simon is . We screamed round the track at very high speeds and always in perfect control. After about 5 laps the oil temp in the Skyline got close to 150 degrees so Simon slowed down and decided to slap his magic switch to turn the car into a 2 wheel drive drift monster and then proceeded to wag the tail round on every right hander! Awesome f.even as a passenger those 5-point harnesses make you feel at one with the car. This was very much the highlight of the day and I hope others get the opportunity to take up a ride with him, it's highly recommended

Most of all a massive thanks and a big hat off to Nick for organising yet another fantastic event and thankyou to everyone who made it yet another weekend to remember. We may be "Club VR4", but in 10 years time when we're all driving something different, I hope we're all still meeting up as a group like this

Great to meet Ian, Jacque, Baz, Anthony and Mo for the first time and as always it was an honour and a privilege to enjoy the company of the usual suspects for another cracking event. Roll on the next event

I hope so too! Really top, top weekend. As Alex says, we don't come for the fun of staring at other Galants (well, not *all* the time anyway! ) I've said before I think ClubVR-4 is unique in so far as the people in it are all friendly and willing to put themselves out for others - How often do you get that these days?

What a wet and windy day.... but still had loadsa fun there

Was great to meet everyone and put more faces to names!

Looking around the club stand you would think that we hadn't seen eachother for years! As usual, we were pratcically the last ones out of Castle Combe.
chatting away only deterred by the rain in the end and not by the fed up expressions from VR4 spouses/partners/children

Cheers / Big Thanks to Nick and da VR4 management and all those who helped with organising this one.. Hopefully JapShow will be warmer and drier!

Was there a huge convoy on the way back to the hotel? (Any vidi footage?)

Is there any vidi track footage?

    Cheers

    Pezz
