    How Many Films?

We were jsut talking, about downloads speeds, etc.. new broadband packages and the like.. anyhoo... in sweden they have 100mb upload and download, with 8 terrabyte monthly capacity (i think they said, i entered half way though discussion)

anyways, if you started to download all the films in the entire world, excluding p0rn and Non English film how many are there, and would you still be alive to watch them if you watched them back to back with 8 hours sleep aday.?

problem is, i don't know how many films there are, so we'll never know.. /shrug.

Unless someone knows how to figure this out? blockbusteronline?

I've got a copy of Micro$oft Cinemania 95 which listed the vast majority of US released films made from the start of the time to part way through 1994.

From memory there were reviews for about 19500 films....this included TV movies too.

If you added another 500 a year for each year since.....25000+ ?

Then if you said 2 gig a film...... you've just blown away your 8 terrabyte drive!!

If you said 2 hours per film (exluding the Russian Napoleonic wars film that was 12 hours long or something ) then that's 50000 hours of film.

Ha!, just think how much popcorn you'd get through

oh, yeah.. i gave up on this one..
i was looking on imdb, 00/01 had over 13k of films added.
    95 - 8k
    96 - 9k
    97 - 9k
    98 - 10k
    99 - 11k
    00 - 13k
    01 - 13k
    02 - 14k
    03 - 15k
    04 - 16k

so thats 118k + your 19,5k = 137,500 thats about - i was gonna say 1.5 hours a film, so about 91.666 hours of watching to get done..
which = 3819 days which = about 10 years.. 20, if you have some sleep

Does that include directors cuts, digitised, super-duper colourated, etc? You may end up watching one or two of those 130 kajillion movies more than once. That would probably put me off the idea, don't like watching a movie more than once.

    Absolutely!

If they keep making films at the rate of 15k per year, you will be looking at 300k more films in twenty years.

So 40 years of watching if you have some sleep! So 12 hours of film watching a day is not enough to keep up with production, let alone watch everything that is already made!

There are also the films already made waiting to find a distributor.
Quite a few years worth stockpiled somewhere.

Don't bother watching SWAT - there I've saved you 1.5hrs of living and/or 50+ Mb of download.

    You can thank me later.

I think the count on IMDB includes unlisted films from history, which people have started to write reviews of.
