    Any mountain bikers in?

If so, what and where do you ride?

    For me:

    '95 Marin Nail Trail
    RST Mozo Pro W Easton
    Goldtec/truvativ hubs
Mavic D521/121 rims, DT 14g PG spokes (HEAVY)
Magura HS22 T-dials in raceline yellow
    SRAM ESP900/9.0

However, I recently went mad on stuff (resulting in being totally broke), and picked up the following (yet to be built up):

'00 Marin East Peak with Fox Float shock and XT front mech
    '04 Magura Asgard forks
    Ritchey Pro V2 crankset
    FSA Platinum BB
    Cane Creek Headset

As for where.... I live on the edge of the peak district NP, with good access to the Pennine way, Pennine Bridleway and Kirklees way.

i used to but a broken back and old age mean i dont tend to use my bike any more apart from teaching my 4 yr old son some tricks , a bit tricky as he's still on stabilisers . your a lucky bleeder living up there , we used to go up that way quite a bit for some training , it was quite funny really we used to go with a coulpe of lads who did triathlons (super fit) and all i used to was ride 8 mile each way to work and the odd race at weekends , well we all used to get to the top of some huge climbs they'd be huffing and puffing and i' get a pack of marlboro reds out and light up , it used to drive them nuts . good days . i wish i was fit enough now to do it again , ho hum wheres the car keys

slightly off topic. but when me and ian (lboots) went to tescos (at japshow) we were behind this silver volvo estate. we were stopped behind it as she (yes she) wanted to pull into the right, as there was what looked likea car boot sale going on.

on the opposite side of the road, was this guy, on his 2->4k bike. he had the full works on, skin tight tour defrance style suit, and obligitory helmet on. So, there we were, waiting for this cyclist to come pastso that the woman could go looky for the bargains at the carboot sale. however.

she started crawling forwards, thats ok we though, plenty room for the guy to get through on his bike, shes just moving forwards a bit to let us sneak past on the left. But, she didn't stop, nor carry on creaping forwards. she decided she was going, obviously she spotted a bargain from where she was, and didnt want to miss out.

BANG, right into the side of the poor sod she went, hit him on the leg, and snapped off his clip onto shoes pedal.. ouch!... we could hear him swearing and cursing from within the car!...

poor soul, that will cost an arm and a leg to get repaired, cos those bikes do not come cheap!!

Marin Rocky ridge with mostly XT bits on it (work / hack bike). fully rigid, intending to go off road this week to remind myself due to problems below!

Specialized Enduro Expert, well all the bits at the mo. Found out wht it had been creaking sooo much, crack in the frame, waiting for a warranty replacement this week. Fab bike tho.

Rode 50% of the south downs way about 4 weeks ago, fantastic!

Since my front brake bosses should be arriving on tuesday I think that might be the evening for a shakedown (although I need to take it by a bike shop to get the rear shock pumped up)... So, just get yourself up to the peak district (we have proper hills here )...

I've got some friend who live in new mills, t'other side of the peaks and I have done some very limited riding there. Was up there in april and there was snow on the top of kinder! Still my other half has sort of agreed to let me bring my bike next time im in the area, might be hearing from me when i do. Always fancied having a crack at jacobs ladder.......

I've been riding for a while, tend to get myself over to Wales as often as possible, most recent was the karrimor trail which was great until about 3/4 through and the heavens opened. Not much fun finishing the trail on wet rocky single track and extremely dodgy decents.

I can't admit to having the skill or balls to tackle everything but the bunch of mates i go with have been doing it for years, and can always steer me in the right direction. Besides once they've gone through i can't really back down can i?

    Anyway, my ride:

    98 Klein Mantra
    XTR/XT Groupset
    Easton EA70 Stem
    Easton EA70 Seatpost
    X-Lite Riser Bars
    XTR V-Brakes with Ceramic Pads
    Mavic Crossmax Ceramic Rims
    Pace RC36 Proclass Carbon Forks
Fox Float 'R' Rear Shock & Risse Racing Air Shock
    Pace RC36 Front Shock
    Hope Headset

    i've some pics somewhere if i can find'em i'll post'em.

Yoda - just downloaded some of the vids from there....

****ing hell that place looks like it ****ing rocks!!!

Paul my local trail is from Wessenden head reservoir (I tend to ride up to the road though, there's a car park just at the top of the trail) down to my house in Marsden. Top section is FAST (ie 40mph) firetrail, followed by a long, gently downhill singletrack section, then onto a long stretch of firetrail into marsden. If you carry on to the bottom of the hill, you end up at www.riverheadbrewery.co.uk

I think it may well be worth the trip....

Especially now that I've finished the new rig (although it needs a new front mech and will probably replace shifter at the same time) and it's AWESOME

Issac if your pottering across the border at any stage, drop us a line and if you give me enough notice I'm sure we can meet up, keep you right on some unsuspecting parts of the trails. There's usually a few of go out fairly often, feel free to bring a few mates,

    Robert.
