1st Vr4 + First Build

Hi Guy's,

Just thought I'd say hi, I've been patiently waiting to find a good base car to build from, after a bit of research I decided the Galant VR4 was for me. My intentions are to keep it street legal, however I may decide otherwise to deter myself from misbehaving

I'm picking up a Super VR4 in 3-4 weeks, and a nice 500+ mile trip home will reveal all about the car to me.

I'm hoping to have the assistance of a very good tuning and racing specialist not too far from me, whilst carrying out as much from home as equipment and skill will allow me to.

This will be my first serious build, which I will record using photo's and video. Perhaps I could start a thread and keep you updated, might even help with my motivation.

Anyway, I'm Mark, from the South West of England. I look forward to sharing my build and picking your brains

Welcome Mark. I'm jealous that you are getting a Super VR-4 as I'm sure many are. Would love to see some photos of it. What sort of work or modifications will you be doing to it?

Hi guys, thanks for the welcome.

I will begin by inspecting everything in detail, has a leaky gearbox, and yaw light is on, has also had a prang and I believe it to be a cat D. As I've not seen the car in person, there may be other things to diagnose prior to the fun stuff.

I'll show all transmission, suspension + brake modifications. I'm keeping all interior and bodywork original, and will have to revert some of it back as it's had a few things done to the dash that aren't original. When it comes to engine modifications, I'll only be posting pics of what can be seen with the bonnet open, I wont be posting any HP or Psi stats, I like to keep a bit of mystery. I will happily post any public times etc from race days/meets in the future.

My budget for the build at present is Price of the car + £12k, I unfortunately don't have masses of free time as I run my own business, so it may be a slow build, but nevertheless I hope you enjoy it.

12K? WOW, Just imagine the awesomeness you can do with a budget like that. MMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, just day dreaming what I could do with that budget lol

What is your intentions with the car? ie what are your intended modifications. 12k will buy you some wicked serious horsepower.

Sad to say I got caught up in other commitments and missed the sale of the car
So if anyone is selling a vr4 in the UK, please let me know.
