Would fassi's downpipes bolt straight on to your system? They are well made and good value.

    Awesome!
The Vee put a VR4 engine in his FWD galant and I am pretty sure he ended up with an lsd. In the wet he had to be very careful in 3rd!

Great result, I would imagine the FTO is a much lighter car so it will be much more of a hand full, especially with FWD only.
Enjoy it and be careful until you get used to it.

Cheers folks .. I'll be careful. No way I want to write it off after all the work I've put in!

The FTO weighs around 400kg less than the Legnum. Not sure what mine weighs. I have added heavier wheels than standard but have removed air con and have a lightweight bonnet and I now have a VR4 engine in there.

Elnevio - have seen those downpipes but my rear turbo elbow sits at a different angle to the Legnum + the total length of the downpipe is shorter on the FTO

Yep, I'll definitely be putting a thread together soon with all the settings to get a standalone setup with the VR4. I just need to get the stepper/idle issue good then I have everything sorted.

Took a log this evening to show the acceleration.

On a private road under safe conditions i did a 0-100mph pull and logged the info on the ecu. The 'Vehicle Speed' section shows the time from setting off from a standstill to reaching 160kph (approx 100mph). The time elapsed is at the bottom, where I let go of the throttle is 100mph ...

    210816 Log.jpg

For some reason the TPS reading threw a wobbly in 3rd gear but the RPMs still kept going.

I also need to get the max boost flattened out and configured properly on the boost controller (shown as MAP kpa) as its a bit spikey. Aiming for a steady 200kpa (approx 1bar)

Not sure if this is the best way to log a run but I cant exactly do it with a stopwatch .. the car is too much of a handful.

Which bellhousing? Clutch? I'm surprised it takes the torque ok!

that is a good point, the max performance in an FTO from the factory was 200ph i beliveve so that is quite an increase (50%) on standard parts.

FTO bellhousing and an Xtreme Racing Clutch. Rich Batty used the FTO box up until around 400bhp as I remember.

I've put around 600 miles on it so far and it's holding up. Time will tell .. if it goes tits up and then I'll look out for an NA 2.5 V6 Galant box as a replacement

Good nice to see people doing this and giving the FTO the power it should have had from the factory

    Project FTO VR4

Glad to see you have done your research.
Would be really rice to see you car in the flesh.
I am still interested to see how it runs with the aftermarket ecu on a long term basis and how easy it is to tune.
Once you get all the setup issues out of the way.
