    Flaring brake lines

Has anyone ever put new nipples on the steel brake lines and flared the brake lines afterwards?

I have a kit that should flare them but it is not working.
When I try to flare it it pushes back the brake lin in the clam instead of flaring.

I hope someone has some tips or tricks because I dont want to change the whole line from front 2 back...

Ow I am testing on a spear line....

Your brake flaring tool probably isn't suitable for flaring steel pipe. You need a tool that will grip the steel pipe tight so you can make the flare. It takes a lot more force than it does for copper pipe.

I have flared steel brake pipe after replacing both side rear section due to corrosion.
The tool was the same for copper and steel.
Maybe I just bought a good one that will do both.
The double flare is a little tricky to get right but I practiced many times on some scrap pile to ensure I got the stick out on the clarification g tool correct before doing the actual pipe I wanted the flare in.
If the pipe is pushing back when flaring you could try putting a turn or two of masking tape round the pipe before clamping it into the jig.
